Panchakarma 21-Day Detox: What to Expect Week by Week

1 min read · July 2, 2026

Why 21 Days?

Authentic Panchakarma follows three distinct phases — Purva Karma (preparation), Pradhana Karma (main detox procedures) and Paschat Karma (rejuvenation) — each requiring adequate time to be effective and safe, which is why physicians recommend a minimum 21-day program for lasting results.

Week 1: Preparation (Purva Karma)

The first week focuses on Snehana (oleation) and Swedana (steam therapy), preparing the body's tissues to release accumulated toxins safely.

Week 2: Main Detoxification (Pradhana Karma)

This is when the core Panchakarma procedures — Vamana, Virechana or Basti — are administered based on your physician's assessment of your constitution and condition.

Week 3: Rejuvenation (Paschat Karma)

The final week focuses on Rasayana (rejuvenation) therapies, herbal tonics, and a gradual reintroduction of normal diet, along with yoga and lifestyle coaching for sustaining results at home.

What You'll Feel

Many patients report initial fatigue in week one as the body adjusts, followed by increased energy and mental clarity by week three as the detoxification completes.

After You Return Home

Physicians typically provide a personalised diet and lifestyle plan to help maintain the benefits of the program for months after you return home.
